Established in 2006, Louisville Ju Jitsu is a branch dojo of the Niseido® Ju Jitsu Federation. The club is under the direction of Sensei Jim Mahanes. Sensei Mahanes has trained in Niseido for over 12 years and received all but his first rank (Yellow Belt) directly from the Niseido® Ju Jitsu founder and Supreme Grandmaster, Professor Rick Riccardi.

Niseido Ju Jitsu is a traditional Japanese-based ju jitsu emphasising self-defense at its core foundation. Niseido has a strong foundation of judo and stand-up self defense.

While grappling is component of our art, we are NOT an MMA or BJJ school.

New students are always welcome, and you will be asked to come and watch several classes before being allowed to participate. This ensures that you are able to put in the required time and that Niseido is the right art for you (because it's not for everybody).
